My PowerPoint presentation was created focusing on a kindergarten class and the theme was focused on the apple life cycle. I used two applications to record the the flipped classroom lesson. The first application I used was keynote to create the PowerPoint, and then I used screen recorder to record the video and audio. Putting this lesson together was fun! The concept of the flipped classroom has an huge benefit, when students can watch the lesson in the comfort of their own home. Following the next day in class, the teacher can actually work on hands on activities.
Though, I realized after completing the PowerPoint this is a kindergarten classroom I’m focusing on, and even though the flipped classroom is so effective how can a kindergartner access the video? Then I thought the teacher would be responsible on getting the parents to work with their child. But then I also realized that some families don’t have access to a computer or may not be computer literate. All this came to mind when I started thinking about the school I’m currently working at, and how some parents are trying their best to provide their kids an education but some parents didn’t finish school.
However, I really do love this concept because it really does give students time to work on their lesson at their own pace. Students then arrive to school the next day prepared, and have more “hands on” time with activities.
